Perspective.
I've done every drug, even stuff most people haven't heard of, like GHB and DMT. I've never had a drug problem, as drugs aren't a problem. People are.
A pile of cocaine is no more dangerous or evil than a pile of dirt. Put it in an empty room and it will just sit there, forever, doing nothing. It's people that are dangerous to themselves.
If someone tells you to stay away from a drug, that's idiotic advice. They don't know you. There are people out there that turn religion into hate. They use it to justify all sorts of things. I don't tell people I don't know to stay away from religion, even if it sounds like sage advice. People are the problem, not a belief in a magic man that lives in the sky.
If you want to try a drug, get it from a dependable source, find out how much you should try and go for it. If you want to use it to fuck yourself up, well, you have a problem, and doing or not doing drugs won't change that.
Ecstacy can be a lot of fun, and is not physically addictive. It can be psychologically addictive, but so can World of Warcraft. Prolonged use will cause your seratonin receptors to contract, and that damage is permanent, so, as with all things, moderation. I'm not saying don't do it. That would like be saying never have a martini or you'll get sclerosis.
A lot of the bogus research you hear out there about holes in the brain, and spinal fluid, etc is all BS. Much of that research was done by one doctor who later admitted he was using meth instead of MDMA in his tests. Regardless, minor usage won't do you any serious harm, so studying the "harmful effects" is wasting time, much like reading about liver disease before you drink your first beer.
If you're curious, give it a try. It's just a chemical. It has no will. It doesn't want to control you. Chances are, you've already done more stupid and regretful stuff on alcohol than you'll ever do on E, so go nuts.
