What about a fake beard?

I usually wear a fake (Amish looking) beard and a red bandana when I am trying to ask a girl out. I always thought that they "helped" but maybe you can tell me otherwise?

I also almost always clip on a fake "rat tail" and dress in a clever t-shirt with a funny saying so that I look like I'm on the cutting edge. Please let me know if I am on the right track.
