IMO - every decision to approve a new domain extension is based solely on $$$ factors. The original domain name system of 3 gTLD's - .com, .net and .org as well as .gov for governments and .mil for military + country extensions for each country, like .fr for France or .pl for Poland was perfect.
I understand that they could take the risk to introduce .biz and .info ( they don't sound too bad ) 4 years ago, but does anyone know that they also introduced .museum and .aero 4 years ago?
Nowadays, apart from the controversial .xxx, also .travel and .jobs are introduced, and such extensions as .tel or .asia are being discussed.
Anyone sees the sense in it? IMO it will only add to surfer confusion and increase the expences of companies that will want to secure their trademarks in every extension possible
