I remember going to Saturday morning cinama at the Clissold Park Astoria. Mum would give us all a shilling (5p). This would get us there and back on the bus (1 1/2d each way) into the pictures (6d) and 3d to spend on sweets. That would buy an ice lolly and a gob stopper.
Mum actually got an extra egg ration stamp because I was born.
