I for one, don't like to give a quote unless I know what's involved in a project, how would I know that other factors that are explained after the fact won't make it so that either I, or the client, is going to get ripped off (or at least not the best deal they can get) by giving a quote without knowing all the pertanant information?

You are right. In the business world a lot of project managers and owners put a blind bid out just to ask their vendors to ?sharpen their pencils?. I always hated to doing this but that is what the boss wanted. Glad I quit working for greedy employers.
Honesty how one quote with the specs given? At the same time threads like this, give designers a chance to showcase their work for potential work from others
