I'd say his account got hacked. I bid on a camera a month ago and won or so I thought. I later received another email saying I didnt win, then another email saying there was a mix up and I really did win. They asked me to send payment but this email was outside of Ebay so I wouldnt have been covered by Ebay for the transaction so I sent the email to Ebay and sure enough they told me to ignore the email but to send them the header information from the emails... my guess hacked account.
