That's nothing. My brother.... here's the story:
Back in the 70's there was this devout ultra-religious minister down in the southern US who was urging everyone to burn their rock 'n roll albums. One of his reasons for it was printed in the paper, him saying "it has a jungle beat that is unholy"...... can you imagine?
Now, at the time I'm like 14 years old or so, my older brother and I are in his car talking about this foo. My brother was very militantly religious back then, and I mention the Led Zep song Ramble On, specifically the lyric "
I'll just keep on rolling along with the faith from the lord above."
I cited that song as an example of some rock songs being good in the way of spiritual beliefs, you know?
He argued with me, and said that that line could be....get this....... it COULD BE referring to the devil, because some "evil-doers" revere lucifer as "the lord above."
To this day I remember that BS from him, that twisted fundamentalist christian hardline view of the world he tried to infect me with, and I just fucking shake my head every time I think of it. What a complete crock of shit those types of people spew, and I don't know who is more unfortunate, those who spew it or those who eat it up with a plastic shovel.
Thankfully, in his older years my brother has become a lot more temperate, tolerant, and sensible in his attitudes about religion and in respecting the beliefs of others.
