I'm inclined to disagree. The religious right knows how to solicit funds from, and manipulate it's base, but the society at large is growing more secular. The problem is that no one has been able to galvanize and show leadership to the secular masses that believe in real freedom and tolerance.
The two main political parties are just two sides of the same coin. Nonethless it is obvious in a choice of the lesser of two evils which side we should support.
Beyond that, we need to build our own power base, so that we can prove ourselves to be a worthy ally of the political powers that be who are inclined to be more in line with our way of thinking (at least until we outnumber them).
Enough of the gloom and doom. Let's come up with some pragmatic solutions for taking on our opposition and quit cowering in the face of challenges to what we believe to be our rights.
