I disagree about the ending. It was narrated from the point of view of the child. The whole premise was about family love. If he (Adam) would have gone with Flore, it would have been like every other "leave the bad wife for the pretty girl" movie. It was a breath of fresh air that he didn't fuck her and stayed with his wife that made a mistake.
