If my memory serves me correctly, this is a little miracle baby in terms of medicine. Nathalie wasn't supposed to be able to have children - which explains then not using birth control. As for getting married - I know many people who were married before having children and are doing a horrible job at it. It means absolutely nothing. If you're committed to the well-being of the child, whether you're married, common-law or divorced - your top priority will be the child and making sure your responsibilities as a parent are met and that child is loved, nurtured and taken care of.

Yeah, she was told that it's next to impossible for her to have children. Not 100% impossible, but very close to it.
At first, we were careful anyway... but now, well... we've been happy for so long and are at the point where we decided, if it happens... great. But it likely won't. But we won't try to prevent it since it has such a very narrow chance anyway. Hell, we were even thinking that very likely we'd just have to adopt one day, and we were fine with that.
But now... now she's pregnant and doing great. It's a one in a million shot and we won the odds.
