However, upon closer inspection, the idea that society is created "from the top" (ie by politics) seems to make less sense than the idea that politics are created "from the bottom" (ie by society). If enough people share an idea, or apply social pressure, society as a whole will probably follow.
If enough people condemn sex tourism and those who engage in it, that social pressure will likely cause a sharp decrease in sex tourism and thus demand, while at the same time it will cause governments to be more likely to take action against it. Getting people to condemn something is in most cases not done through government campaigns, but rather through private conversations.
So, what you're seeing here is "politics in action", in a more direct and fundamental way than purely traditional political action could ever achieve.
PW, I swear sometimes that headfull o' booklearnin' of yours gets you loving the sound of your own keys tapping sometimes.

Basically, either approach will likely be futile. Certainly, cocking off at one lone offender on a board such as this is going to accomplish sweet piss all as far as their overall cause is concerned, and has in fact only served to further animosity between them and several dozen well-known and established entities in this community. I'm sure a few dozen newbs also think their argument is boned up as well.

As for lobbying governments, well..... of the two plans of attack I would have to say that that one looks the most promising from where I sit, depending on how it's done of course. Tranza and Bluff could pool their limited resources and pay to have their respective countries leafletted heavily in opposition to the current prostitution laws. They could write letters to government officials, and threaten to run smear campaigns should those officials not comply....

Basically, I'm sitting here laughing at the entire argument. At the bottom of it all I find that I am left with my craving for bacon.
