I got lucky. Many many years ago when I was a child, one of my father's employees invested a ton of money into a ring for some chick. The broke up before he was able to give her the ring, and he ended up selling it to my father for a great price. My father gave it to my mother, although she never wore it being as it was a wedding ring. It has a huge diamond, surrounded by more diamonds, and is made of white gold. We had it appriased a few years ago and was told it's worth $15k.

I paid $400 for it and my wife loves it.
