Well, you have to be in the auction before it drops and before they catch it to be able to bid. Just like snapnames. It kinda sucks, but at the same time keeps the prices a bit lower (though pool is overpriced anyways) since not everyone sees every other persons drops.

So, if you were not initially in the auction before they caught it (if you didn't add it to your account), you're SOL.

Of course, like someone else said, there is a chance that the auction is long over and pool is holding the domain due to non-payment, which I doubt, but you can check that by looking at the Whois and verifying the registration date.
