from a marketing standpoint, one company is going to say they are 4 bazillion times faster than the other, so the other will have to catch up, and to quote Ice Cube "once again it's on"
they pull the same shit with DSL vs Cable. "OUR download is 5x's faster!!" and people think, holy shit, that's what i need. When we all know they will never use it and that upload speed is the true commodity.

Thats not true, what they claim can be proved. Marketing is saying **up to x timesfaster** just like companies here say " make 200 a singup" and we know no one hits that level lol.
There is a need for this now. Not for surfing the net, whats a fraction of second on page loads, dont even notice it. But next time you are downloading something that takes several minutes think about how there is no need for this. For movies alone, i read something about the founder of netflix, he was waiting for the day that technology advanced and people had a fast enough conection to download a movie in seconds and stream it and watch it on their hdtv, where as with connections right now this would take hours and not pratical. If you think this is where the internet speeds stop you are crazy.
