As far as soccer players and their salaries well Beckham( sp? ) make more than 99% of NFL players. Also the NFL's $85 mil salary cap has to be spread over 53 players which is not an easy as you think. Also NFL players actually make less on average than baseball, NBA or even NHL players.

I would have ZERO problems if one of my favorite teams were sold to an Englishman. And so would most Americans. I guess we are more tolerant.
