I'm so mad about it, everyone in the store heard him and looked at me. On my receipt the first 4 thing's were water and beer.

That was the manager? I'd be getting free beer for a year after the entire store, owners, shareholders and anyone within a 100 mile radius finished hearing what I'd have to say to him.

Kidding, it's not about the beer!
You should not have been embarrassed, paid your stuff and walked away. You should have made a scene, have him contact his superiors, wait until there was a nice lineup just to make sure everyone knew the type of idiot he is and have him appologize profusely in front of them.
In retrospect, I'd keep the receipt & write a letter to the company demanding a letter of apology posted on the entrance & exit doors of the store! That'll teach him a lesson to at least ask the cashier if she may have 'forgot' to tally the beer and water up.
