And they had some indoor/outdoor carpet glued to their front walkway that they wanted removed, so they asked the company putting in their driveway to remove it and remove the walk and put in a brand new walk to match the driveway. No problem there, right?
Well, apparently the driveway company sub-contracted the work to someone else for the walkway.. And this afternoon my nanny comes in the house screaming that the neighbors house is on fire. Well, that's not right, what the?
So, apparently the people they sub-contracted were using GASOLINE to disolve the glue on the indoor/outdoor carpeting, and one of them, not thinking tossed his cigarette onto the carpet.. WHOOSH, up went the carpet, the front door, the wall, the insolation, the roof, the garage.. Instead of alerting the homeowners (WHO WERE HOME!) and calling the fire department, they started collecting their evidence and TOOK OFF! But apparently forgot the garbage bags full of gasoline soaked carpet (The police and fire department will definitely be filing MANY charges, including arson and criminal neglegence).
Anyhow, 4 hours later the contractor they'd actually hired gets in contact with them, says they'll work something out without having to deal with insurance (They don't have any) and that it really isn't their problem if the sub-contractor burned their house, his company was doing the driveway and nothing else. I think not?
Anyhow, here's a couple pics, what a horrible experience for these people, lucky they were home or that house would have never survived.
