As to what a man gains, it depends on what he wants out of marriage:
-Some look for a trophy wife to improve their self esteem.
-Some seek a companion and someone to share life with.
Fact is, that everyone needs a support system, no matter who you are, and a spouse is the best support you can have (that is if you married someone you can talk to).
So basically, you get what you seek, if you want a good wife, you can have it, you just need to give as well as receive.
