I don't think you are a moron or an idiot. I do think you need to correct a few things in your approach to securing a loan. Keyword - securing. Have any assets to put up? As far as no time limit to repay the only people I think that still give loans like that are parents that can afford to because they know they are not getting the money back.
If I was putting up 12K for you and my investment is the only money your company has I'd want at least a 50% interest in the company as well as financial control over the company. Firm up exactly what you need and how you expect to repay it then represent your idea. If you are talented I'm sure you can come up with something that is viable.
