I will agree with that 200%. However the majority of the media does not show how the majority of the black population really are. Yea sure there are a few shows out there where the actors are "normal" people, but the bulk of it is ghetto shit with people who just sound, act and look plain ignorant.
To glorify such a lifestyle is harmful and keeps perpetuating the cycle. But since the media machines are predominantly owned by whites, I guess that's just another form of The Man holdin' them down. Sell it to them in a manner where it looks good and keep the cycle going. Keep them spending their money to buy all this high priced shit and bling blig to keep up with the fad, keep them broke, keep them in the ghetto and keep them under control.
On hip hop... The power of hip hop is a huge force across the world. Almost too powerful. Hip hop dictates how many people live, act, shop, think, speak and spend their money on. Now it has spread overseas to Latin and Asian countries. I saw a 6 story billboard of 50 Cent in Bangkok a few months ago. Unreal. I'm not blasting hop hop, because I do enjoy a lot of the music... I'm just stating it is more powerful than people give it credit for, and instead of being used in a positive manner it's influence seems to be mostly negative.
Overall I have a real problem with today's media. That is where the blame needs to be directed. Not just about this topic but about everything they do. I'm a firm believer that TV rots the brain and is for the masses of sheep who need to be told how to dress, live and eat. It's non-stop attack of products that eats people alive. It's sad that people are that weak and that easily influenced.
