this "opinion" article is sort of off base a little... it ignores the psychological reprecussions that slavery has had on blacks & black culture that stems beyond those who were actually slaves. much of these mental effects still exist in the ghettos and in black relationships as a whole. the LACK of a true black culture is an effect of slavery. i mean, its like saying slavery is NOT the reason that black men dominate the majority of athletic sports today. white slave owners BRED the super negro. white people will NEVER have the physical aptitude that blacks do because of slavery.
