My mother's uncle was a chaplain on Guadacanal during WWII. He came across a wounded Japanese soldier, that was surely going to die. He administered last rites, and tried to comfort him as much as he could under the circumstances.
When he walked out of the cave that this Jap laid mortally wounded, the Jap tossed a grenade out at my uncle. Naturally, he threw it back in, and no more wounded Japanese soldier.
The VC were good at this also during Nam. So
