First I'll explain how the box works. Our first generation box is solid state (meaning no moving parts and no storage) and we stream the content from our servers. We're also able to flash the boxes with updates on the fly. So this means that although users who receive the box today are seeing certain "startup" screens, whenever we release new updates we're able to push them along to all our users immediately.
Users ordering their box today only see XTV. However, our parent company ITVN is in the process of signing licensing deals for other services such as local news from around the world, sports, music, file sharing, and other services where interactivity is key. We believe that a new ERA is coming and we're trying to set a standard. We should all be able to watch what we want and when we want all with the push of a button. If I want to see the 1982 superbowl, I should be able to watch it now. Or if I want to watch an old music video from years ago, I should be able to watch it now.
XTV is only the start .. lets imagine where TV programming will be in the year 2010 .. exciting times
