Sony is always good, and getting a 3-chip (CCD's) camera is best if you can afford it. Also, MiniDV is the most favored format, although if you're making them just for yourself, and you're doing volume, a Digital8 camera (records on less expensive and more widely available Hi8 tape) is something to consider. Still, I'd get a MiniDV camera if MiniDV tape is easily available. You'll want some sort of anti-shake technology, too. Less shake means that more compression (smaller files) is possible.

Rather than recommend specific cameras, I just thought I'd tell you some things I'd look for the next time I buy one.
