Exactly.
Although the line "Acme does not have the best reputation in the business..." suggests to us that Other Producer IS predisposed to cutting them out, we don't know what Other Producer's relationship is with Acme. Maybe Acme brings him a lot of other out-source work, and, on balance, the relationhsip has value for him. You also discounted the possibility of negotiating with Acme for better terms. If the Other Producer knows Acme's taking a big pinch, why not gauge how badly they need this done (by him by asking for more money?
