What are your thoughts on this?
This is a real situation...The names have been changed to protect both the innocent and the guilty.
AcmePorno Productions contacts another producer and the conversation goes somewhat like this:
Acme: How would you like to shoot for (insert big name adult company here)?
Other Producer: That's cool. What do you have in mind?
Acme: We want (insert very specialized niche content with difficult circumstances) and we would like you to produce multiple sets a month for (insert insultingly low price). Isn't that a great offer! And you will be shooting for (big company)!
Now.......The price offered is roughly what it would cost to produce this....NOT including location, misc. costs, or even...dare I suggest it....Profit.
Ah...I will also mention that "Acme" does not have the best reputation in the business. I have seen and heard of multiple problems with them.
So, here's my question. Knowing that Acme is outsourcing this...Most likely without telling their client...and probably keeping 50% of what (big company) is really offering.....Would you consider going around Acme and dealing directly with the other company....Maybe even at a lower total cost to that company?
To me, this seems unprofessional but so does Acme trying to sell me on shooting for a "big company" that I already have ties with. Now, If Acme were not so greedy then I would probably work through them....But not when I could potentially take a loss.
