You FORGOT a court date? Have you been checked for early onset of Alzheimers? You remind me of the models who "forget" they had a nude photo shoot. (Like a female friend of mine said, "I can't imagine a girl actually forgetting a nude photo shoot. I can imagine her using forgetting as an excuse.")
At any rate, don't tell them you forgot because they'll find that insulting. Tell them you had to go to the hospital and they'll probably reschedule you no problem.
And DON'T have your mother call. It's not like junior high school.
