WordPress v. Movable Type

Ok so I am working on a new project and I am using subdomains. It seems like I have two options wordpress or movable type. With wordpress using one install I can hack the code and allow the different catagories that I want to show for each subdomain or I can just use seperate installs with each subdomain. With moveable type I can setup seperate blogs with one install and set them up for each seperate domain. Movable type of course costs money though. My problem is trying to figure out which is is more SEO friendly. Wordpress uses mostly php pages and movable type uses all static built html files. Any input would be great. Just trying to make my decision easier.
