The best I could come up with is "drone" in the context of colonial ants -- many parallels there -- LOL. It has the convenience of being already a noun, rather than an adjective to which we would have to match a suitable noun if this exercise is to gratify in any way.
Quite simply -- Ant Drones perform a quasi-military (protectionist) function, and also supervise processes. They are ill-equipped to function as decision-making individuals, but rely on a strict manner of communication (which also doubles as an ID-verification system for suspect individuals), and on an advanced delegative organizational structure.
