During a casual chat with my son about guitars, I made a mistake of mentioning that I use to sell newspapers, The Herald Express, later called the Examiner, in Hollywood back in the mid 1950's when I was 11 and 12 years of age. Some of my customers were at the stuido where the Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet was filmed. I made friends with the Nelson family druing my paper sales and that Harriet had given me some Rick Nelson's new clothes that he could not wear because he had outgrown them. Then when I was older, but still young and very foolish, and a blue uniformed copper in Hollywood Division, I was the one who got the radio call when Janis Joplin O.D.'d on heroin. Also had to handle several calls about a NOISY electric guitar coming from a house across from the Hollwyood Bowl. Turned out to be Carlos Santana. Now I'm gonna have to fight L.A. traffic cause my son wants a fucking first class tour of Hollywood.
Hollywood is such a fucking dump now.
