KMT Chair's visit to China leads to riots at airport
Just as KMT Chairman Lien Chan left for his trip to China, at the airport, what was at times a bloody clash between the pan-blue and pan-green parties took place. There were a total of 15 people who were badly hurt and were sent to the hospital. Seven kiosks were forced to closed down at what?s estimated to be a loss of NT$500,000 per hour. The police, unable to keep things under control at the airport, could only offer a simple apology.
Pushing, beating, bleeding, this was the scene at Taiwan?s international airport where it looked like a scene from a movie.
Police Chief said, ?We didn?t do our jobs and we want to offer apologies to everyone.?
Now is making an apology the only thing the airport police can do? Examining the start of the riot, we find that four stores and three insurance companies were forced to shut their doors around the airport. In just a little under an hour, there were losses of at least NT$500,000 not to mention the huge mess after the airport was cleared out.
?Of course it?s difficult to clean, especially when the eggs give off a smell and it?s sticky.?
?We didn?t properly manage everything, of course it?s where the airport police is not right. I think wherever the police is not doing a good job, then we the airport police should give an explanation.?
?So we must bear responsibility.?
Reporter asks, ?So is there the possibility someone will step down??
?Who is going to step down??
How can this all be explained? The airport police didn?t have an answer and what the people still can?t quite understand is why at the start of the riots were there only a majority of reserves instead of the police coming in? In a bloody clash where a scene at the airport got out of control, this can only be said to be an embarrassment for everyone.
