Some people have more blemishes than others. The best thing is to look for models with good clean skin and few blemishes. Whenever you interview models you should have them strip so you can see if they have a lot of pimples.
Otherwise you will have to pay for hours of re-touching with Photoshop. Plus, unless you are a real skilled re-toucher, it will look re-touched beacuse it will appear too "painted" with the real detail lost.
People with olive skin tend to have fewer pimples. People with fair skin sometimes have terrible blotchy skin. Some of the best models are those girls with blonde hair and a tan.
If someone has only slight blemishes you can put a little diffusion on the lens, but in general my advice would be to pass on somebody with horrible ugly skin.
