Whatever you do - you'll never be able to produce a skin tone that looks good on everyones monitor. Some people use monitors that cost $1000 and some people use monitors that cost $300. There's going to be a big difference in the behavior of both of these monitors in regards to color & contrast.

White balancing is the most important thing to capturing good color. I do a custom white balance before every set of pics that I shoot. It's a pain in the ass but my colors come out looking great and it's a lot less correcting in post.
