I've dated both hotties and average girls ( or girls that I thought were good looking but might not be a consensus hottie ) I've found that many girls that are very hot know it and are used to getting things thier way. Ever since they were 15 guys have given them whatever they want or do whatever they want because they are good looking. This kind of ego, to me, is a turn off. Not all super hot girls are this way, but I would say 3 out of 5 are. So for me I would rather date a girl that I think is good looking and is more laid back and doesn't expect everyone to bow at her feet.
