On a serious note I read an article on yahoo news the other day that summed things up pretty nicely.
The economy is backsliding, gas prices are ridiculously high and consumer confidence is dangerously low.
These are pocketbook issues that Americans are very concerned about.
So what have Bush and the republican controlled congress been up to?
Trying to interfere with the Terry Schiavo issue.
Trying to privatize social security.
Trying to eliminate the filibuster rule so the democrats won't have any say in what judges Bush can appoint.
What have they done on the economic agenda?
Passed new bankruptcy legislation, which only benefits credit card companies. At a time when Americans may need relief from their debts, they just made it harder to get that relief.
A law limiting class action lawsuits. A coup by big business. Now Pfizer can create all the bad drugs it wants, make billions selling them, and have their liability limited when we find out that drug causes brain tumors.
Way to go republicans!!!
The only "economic plan" the republicans ever have is to cut taxes, but they've already been cut so much that we have record deficits that are only going to get bigger.
So I guess since they really have nothing else they can do economically they'll just worry about other stuff that most Americans don't care about.
Its no wonder that Bush's approval is down to 44% while congress is at 35%.
I can't wait for 2006.
