I wouldn't consider buying dinner or wedding ring paying for sex. I know my girlfriend would marry me if i told her that i cannot afford a ring and will tie a rope on her finger. The sex activity would remain the same. If i had to get a girl an expensive ring for her to marry me or have sex with me, i will not even bother asking. Maybe it is the line of girls that you came across.
