killing yourself isn't hard to do, very simple in fact. 'course, failed suicides happen, and then you get locked away in an institution. fun. All because you can't deal with your problems, so you run away.

That is bullshit. Suicide is not an easy thing to do. It takes a lot to come to the self realization that you want to die and intend to end your life. It's not a decision that should be taken lightly.
Ok, I just got sidetracked. My point is that if all the people who attempted suicide were institutionalized there wouldn't be very many of us walking around. I'm sure a large portion of people on this board have a family member or know someone that has committed suicide and an even larger portion have known someone who at least tried in a cry for help by taking too many pills or slitting their wrists, etc. It's probably also a safe bet that there are more than a few members of this board have attempted suicide themselves. The numbers aren't pretty and are pretty telling.
