Most of these ideas are good ones, it's a problem that has to be fixed. We need to limit the number of posts one poster can make to these threads. I hate worthless posts. I agree that only top advertisers should able to run contests.

Next rule: Limit on how many times and how frequently someone can post in a contest thread. What should that be? We don't need non-webmasters coming in here and taking over these contests.

As someone who advertises on gfy now and again (see sig ;)), I think it's important to limit mindless posts, so good call on that Lens.
Maybe have a minimum post count to qualify for competitions.? Also have only 4 conests going on a day, and have them last a maximum of two weeks. That would contradict one of my competitions right now, but if it helps the overall smooth running of the board I'd be down with that.
