I'm not knocking Rolex -- but IMHO most "big" watches are that way because they are cheaper to produce -- a thinner watch requires more accurate tooling and less error tollerance -- that's why most watches you see in department stores are so big and bulky -- clunky watches are cheaper to build.
But you only have to look at the Rolex that Snow posted to see how accurate the construction is... I'm not a watch expert but I appreciate good design and craftmanship.
