Dream Submitter = $35 per month (equivalent to $420 a year)
They all do the same job and they all apparently do it well. They all have extensive databases which are relatively easy to customize. Is the very significant price differential simply a case of each author charging whatever he thinks he can get away with, or are there objective justifications - from the user's point of view - for the price range?

They do only basically the same Job,
Dreamsubmitter offers for sure the most features, and is a great tool for people that heavily work with Payed Gallery Spots because of that, but therefore you'd have to invest some time and learn everything, and therefore it also costs some money. And it can be used for LinkLists, LinkDumps etc. too
Chameleonsubmitter is a great tool for beginners (IMHO), it's very easy to handle because most of the difficult work is handled by others (Database Updates), but therefore you'll reach it's limits rather soon, and it doesn't have as much features as some people might wanna have.
And Advancedsubmitter is somewhere in between them, it's rather easy to work with, the DBs are updated frequently (and more often when I'm finished with the LinkList and LinkDump DB) and it can also be used as I said for everything with a form, LinkDumps, LinkLists, Directories, Boards, SearchEngines, etc.etc. And it's also used by many professional Submitters to handle their bought Gallery Spots and Partner Accounts.
So each submitter has it's advantages, and the more feature-rich a program is the more expensive it becomes, cause it also targets a "more wealthy" group of buyers. None of them is "the best", it's only a matter of what you want, and how experienced you are.
