handling fees are handling fees. that includes not only the cost of materials to ship, but their time spent in doing so. What if they have to drive mad miles to get it shipped out cuz UPS wont pickup in 'boomfuck, indiana'?
or maybe UPS picks up at their door everyday, - either way, pay up if you really want it or go get it somewhere else.
