What if they threw a poker tournament and nobody came? True Story.
True story...happened to me yesterday.
This is an email I sent to some friends yesterday...one of them is Linda Johnson "The First Lady of Poker." She's also the announcer for the WPT and gave me a ticket to the final taping of the WPT $25K Tourney.
Anyway here it is in it's original form.

And the bonehead of the week award goes to....
*Drum roll please*
ME!
I jump in the shower today to get ready to go to where?
The final table taping of the WPT at the Bellagio.
For some reason I leave the house a little late and I needed to stop
by the store to grab another memory card for the camera because I
wanted to take a whole bunch of pictures.
It's 2:31 as I'm heading down Lake Mead towards the 15. I get on the
15 and I'm flying down the highway thinking that I could not be late,
Linda was so kind to get me a ticket and I didn't want her to think I
wouldn't show up.
I keep my eyes on the clock as I think myself out of the best exit to
take. I take Spring Mountain DOH! and there is some not a whole lot
of traffic on the strip.
It's nearing 2:40 and I figured if I can get to Valet by 2:45 I should
have just enough time to make it to the Tower Ballroom.
As I tip the valet and ask where it's located I quickly learn I should
have parked back behind by the conservatory and now realise I have a
long walk across the casino but I should still make it.
I quickly navigate my fat little legs through the casino and arrive
outside the Tower Ballroom only to see a number of Tower Ballrooms. I
think 6 total, don't hold me to that.
However what I do not see are other people waiting for the taping.
I'm right on time but there is no one around, no WPT sign outside the
doors like last time.
So I ask around and keep getting told that it's being shot at the
Fontana Bar. But that can't be correct, Linda said it had been moved.
So I ask security.
Yep it's being held at the Fontana Bar. It's about 3:10 now and I'm
thinking I'm late and will have some explaining to do.
Now it's back across the casino to the bar.
As I approach the bar I see a tournament going on and I'm thinking to
myself this can't be right. I'm supposed to be watching the final
table there are far too many people playing.
I ask around if anyone has seen either Linda or Jan and I'm told they
are either inside the bar or outside. I then see Jack Mclelland
sitting on a stool talking to some people.
I then go over and tell him my story. That I was supposed to show up
for the taping of the final table and I can't seem to find Linda.
His answer was, in true Jack Mclelland style.
Don't worry it's next Sunday I'm sure you'll find her by then.
DOUBLE DOH!
Well now don't I feel silly.
Either way I went ahead and sat down in the $4/$8 and win 22 big bets,
so there was a happy ending.
See you guys Tuesday. God I hope it's Tuesday.

Yeah...I'm a dork.
