My ex-wife discovered she had an older brother when she was like 30 something. Her father died, so the other sisters told her about her having a brother that was disowned by the family because he had a drinking problem.
Now, they lived in a small town in TX, and it turns out this guy has been living there the entire time, and knew who she was, had seen her . . . never said a thing.
That was a trip when he showed up at the funeral.
