I have a Chinese friend in my english class that I talk to all of the time. He told me (of course I am filling in the missing words):
"We don't care about freedom. We are happy to just go do our jobs and go home. We don't need freedom of speech. We have done things our way for thousands of years, and will continue to do so for thousands more."
The Chinese don't want or NEED to change to a democracy.
