i don't think bi-sexuality is any more natural in girls as it is in guys, i just think that it's less stigmatised.. for instance, two guys doing a licky bump'n'grind in the middle of the dancefloor of a straight nightclub is likely to elicit at least one or two drunk guys trying to fight. not a circle of chicks looking.. don't forget in more ancient times in places such as greece homosexuality was preferred over hetero sex..which was just procreation. I think it's dictated more by the prevailing sociological winds than genetics.
and hdcrltr1 there is no way in hell we are in a matriarchal society.. look around at who's running the country and i don't just mean politicians..
One of the biggest forms of power women have now is that as the spenders of their husbands money and to a lesser extent their own, the social commentary in advertising is sculpted to make them feel good about the things they buy..
(a horribly generalised statistical truth - we haven't progressed as far from the 50's as we think we have)
for example, the bumbling "dad" stumbles through the mundanities of a household chore to the amusement of the family.. women watching can now feel superior, especially with the help of brand "x" cleaning detergent.
a feel good empowerment ad for women designed by men to con them into buying what they want them to.
the need for women's products to be advertised leads networks to create shows that appeal to women's sensitivities.. Ally McBeal for instance was created as a vehicle for several advertisers that needed the "girlish empowerment" sheen and female viewers that flowed into the commercial breaks
what we end up with is an hour of "quailty" programming to showcase 40 ads designed to appeal to the empowered woman interspersed with community service ads about domestic violence and osteoporosis.
nice.
