If a lawyer cannot supply a model release, should you be asking him about the law on photography. It is a common misconception that lawyers know every law.
But Space is right, always check that you are not breaking local laws.
I was once nearly arrested in Palm Springs, for shooting in a house. Got away with it by persuading the police it was amateur. They were probably well pissed off when they saw the pics in Club International.
