I used to live in @Home territory, and vowed I would never go back to dial-up, then after the transition, I saw how much Comcast sucked ass, ever since that December 27th switch over, and it was bad enough, since that day I was down for 24 hours.
They fucked up in February and rolled out null configs to most of the modems in the area I was living in at the time, days, weeks, MONTHS went by without service visits that I requested, so about week 2 of my outage I went out and got a wholesale dialup deal with a ISP that I share with my parents and friends now.
Nationwide access at $10/mo, can't beat that on the road, nor at home when you have 'speed withdrawal' and 2 idle phone lines.
Anyways, the only decent cable IP provider I've seen is Optimum Online, other than that, everyone else sucks, well, Time Warner/Road Runner/AOL/ConglomoCo sucks less, but doesn't top OO.
Oh, and the next company to send me a flyer saying "DSL maybe available in your area" better be damn fucking sure I can get DSL before sending me a flyer, I don't want to sit on the phone for 30 minutes for you just to tell me that DSL access isn't available in my area, "oh, we just mailed all the customers in XYZ metro area".
But now that I'm in Arizona, we'll see how things work out.
