the main pieces of advice I give are...

update the front pages once a week

find GOOD galleries and put them up there

focus on a niche and don't make shit too general...

don't spam to get members, have members click on a text link to join your groups, when they click a text link they know exactly what they are getting into, if you spam, you get dead beat members that just wanna join as many groups as possible
