Buddhism, in and of itself, is not a religion as much as it is a philosophy of life. If anything, Buddha isn't worshipped, revered, yes, but not worshipped. It is his teachings that are studied and followed in order to obtain a more peaceful sense of being in one's life.
Buddhists don't consider Buddha a god at all. He is considered a great teacher and philosopher. Thus, with no god, Buddhism is not a religion.
