At the new place we called around a month ago to get the process started and knew going into it that we may be able to get a prefered date scheduled since we had a month to play with. Also since we did the business class cable it made it easier to get a firn install date because we got access to a higher tier support department.

Mine is a business grade link too, but there's nothing the ISP can do if the telco doesn't have the DSL equipment connected to my line.
Have you considered a dialup account as backup?
